Mr.Khosbayar Chagdaa, Presiding Justice of the Criminal Case Chamber of the Supreme Court received delegates from Canadian judiciary led by Mr. Marc Richard, Chief Justice of the New Brunswick and Ms. Mary Moreau, Chief Justice of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench.

Chief Justice Marc Richard informed about ongoing collaboration with Judicial General Council and Judicial Disciplinary Committee which is focused at strengthening rule of law and improving public trust in judiciary in Mongolia within the framework of “Benefitting from gender-responsive and improved justice system” project with the support from Canadian Government. Chief Justice Marc Richard noted that there will be positive impact following this project for involved parties.

In return, Justice Khosbayar Chagdaa expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Catherine Ivkoff and justices from Canada for their continuous support in strengthening justice system in Mongolia and briefed them about overall operation of the Supreme Court and ongoing reform in judicial system including renewal of the Law on Judiciary.

During the meeting, Ms Erdenechimeg Dashpuntsag, Director of the Judicial Training, Research and Information Institute expressed her interest in cooperating with her Canadian counterparts in providing training for judges who received sanctions indicated in the law and sharing experience in developing and designing training curriculum for judges with sanctions.
