During the First Conference of the All Judges of Mongolia, the President of Mongolia, U.Khurelsukh, awarded the title of Honored Lawyer of Mongolia to judges who have worked diligently and proactively in the judiciary for many years and exercised judicial power responsibly and productively.

HONORARY LAWYER TITLE OF MONGOLIA:

Batsaikhan Davaajav, who has made valuable contributions to the interpretation of Mongolia's criminal law and judicial practice;

Dagvadorj Tungalag, who has made valuable contributions to judicial reform, non-judicial dispute resolution and mediation;

Urantsetseg Togtokh, who has made a valuable contribution to ensuring the independence of judges, the independence of the judiciary, the selection of judges from among lawyers, and the training of judges.

The President of Mongolia, U.Khurelsukh, said, "This honorable title presents the appreciation by the Mongolian government for your contribution to justice as well as the hard work of all judges."

He noted that a new era of judicial reform is beginning, noting that the judiciary is a key pillar of the Mongolian governance in protecting human rights and freedoms, restoring violated rights, upholding the rule of law and, most importantly, strengthening justice.

“Judges have a duty to uphold their reputation and adhere to ethics, laws and regulations at all times. In this way, the reputation of the judiciary will be sustained and the public's trust in the judiciary will be restored.” All three Honorary Lawyers are reputable senior judges who have served in the Supreme Court of Mongolia.

D.Batsaikhan has worked in law enforcement for 34 years, including 23 years as a judge from Aimag (Province) court to head of the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court. During this time, he is one of our most respected senior judges, who has done much to improve the application of the law in criminal justice and to improve judicial ethics and discipline.

D.Tungalag has worked in the judiciary for 41 consecutive years, as a judge for 32 years, and as a judge of the Supreme Court for 21 years. In doing so, she is one of our leading senior judges, who has made a real contribution to deepening judicial reform, taking the first steps in the implementation of the Law on Mediation, and leading the hard work to ensure its further implementation.

T.Urantsetseg began her career as a judge in the Sukhbaatar District Court in 1981 and has served in the Supreme Court for more than 40 years, even as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. She is one of our most respected senior judges, with the title of Doctor of Law and Associate Professor, who built the first court building, initiated the first instance court registration program, and contributed to the recruitment of judges from lawyers.

Thus, during the First Conference of All Judges of Mongolia, three senior judges who dedicated their youth and efforts to protecting human rights and freedoms in the Mongolian judiciary were awarded the title of “Honorary Lawyer of Mongolia” and the number of Honored Judges became 36.
